Nigel Roberts is an Auckland-based artist who creates type based reverse glass works using age old techniques with gold leaf and enamels, and type based wall murals.

As a self taught sign painter, his graffiti background influences the treatment he gives the type, whilst still keeping the traditional form and feel to the letters.

His full time work as a scenic artist for film and television also comes through in his practice, as he is constantly learning faux techniques, or ‘movie magic’, to introduce into his work for that little bit extra.
